You CAN  help too

The Pirates have decided to have a yearlong can drive. We ask that you collect your aluminum cans so that we can turn them to raise money. Right now the rate is $.35 per pound. We're going to split the year in half with any money collected from Jan.-June going towards the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. The money collected from July-Dec. will go towards the Adopt A Family. 

The Relay For Life is a 24 hour walk to help raise money and awareness for cancer research. Our club has been involved with for a couple of years now and we not only raise money, but participate in the walk as well.

The Adopt A Family is something we do around Christmas for needy families. Typically single mothers with little money to buy gifts for their children. Our club raises money and buys gifts for the children and supplies Christmas dinner for the family. Last year's recipient was overwhelmed with our generosity and I'm told it was a very emotional moment when she saw the presents and food.

I volunteered to take these cans to the recycling center on a regular basis. So if you decide you want to help simply collect the cans and bring them to any club event I might be attending. I usually go to just about every club event so your odds are pretty good of finding me there.
